As we formally draw another church year to a close, we have many reasons to rejoice. The Psalmist wrote, “Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all Gods.”
Again this year, there is just cause for singing, shouting, thanking, and extolling. Our attendance continues to grow and we have seen 84 people come to Christ this year. But we have far more than just numbers for which to be thankful. It is the major commitments we have made for which I am most thankful and of which I am most proud.
I. We have committed to diligently STUDY the Word. This effort has been most effectively carried out through the Year-of-the-Bible emphasis. We currently have over 600 individuals reading through the Word together each day.
II. We have committed to actively SERVE the Lord. This past year a long awaited dream became reality. MZ Ministry is now up and running. A number of new ministries have been birthed through this process and lots of fresh, excited, equipped workers are entering the vineyard!
III. We have committed to generously SHARE with others. This is evidenced through our record-breaking Faith Promise pledge total. We will most likely give in excess of $75,000.00 to missions this year. We also committed $7,000.00 for Katrina relief, as well as sending a team to Kenner, Louisiana. Also, a newly formed “missions team” will sharpen our mission focus in the coming year.
I extend humble thanks to each of you for affording me the privilege of serving you and sharing this exciting journey with you!
