Word
The year 2006 has been declared "The Year of the Word" by the Denomination of the Wesleyan Church. With this declaration comes the challenge for every participant in the Wesleyan Church to read the Bible in a year. will be participating in striving to read the Bible in a year, but why wait till 2006? Starting in the fall we will focus on the Word as our theme for the 2005-2006 school year.

Beware IMers
Beware of talking to people you do not know online through IM, email, and other chat sites. Beware of what personal information you put on your Xanga, Bloggers, or other web sites. A girl in our own youth group found herself in a sticky situation and she wants you to beware for your own safety. Click here to read the whole story.

Last Week
We said, "See you later" David Paul last week. This Friday will be his big day of matrimony.

We have really appreciated Benji Overcash this summer as well. He has had some classes he has had to take this summer to keep him busy, but he will be hanging out with us more for the rest of the summer until he has to go back to school.

This past Sunday we talked about how Jesus one God among other gods that we worship. Some of the gods we talked about were food, entertainment, music, ourselves, money, power, cars/driver’s license, people/BF/GF, beauty/vanity, bodies, time, job/work, sports, hobbies, alcohol/drugs/tobacco.

When does something become a god?
1. When we are obsessed with it.
2. When we are addicted to it.
3. When it consumes us.
4. When we can’t do without it
