About Cross-Cultural Ministries

Rev. David Ellis is the Cross-Cultural Ministries director for The Wesleyan Church.  His position is a cooperative effort co-funded by the departments of Education and the Ministry and Evangelism and Church Growth to advance the home missions cause of The Wesleyan Church. It also fulfills a long-standing commitment of denominational leaders to strengthen the cross-cultural ministry priorities of The Wesleyan Church in North America. Rev. Ellis just previously pastored Santa Anita Wesleyan Church in El Monte, California, a multicultural congregation of Hispanic, Asian, and Caucasian believers. In 1991, he became the director of Multicultural Ministries for the Pacific Southwest District, one of the most racially and culturally diverse in the denomination. He has been a church consultant, has assisted with missionary work in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Chile, and helped to start the Wesleyan missionary work in Costa Rica.

Rev. Ellis and his family have been in Indianapolis since mid-June 2001.  Since being here he has assisted the general director of Education and the Ministry, Rev. Kerry Kind, in developing strategies, curricula, and facilitators for ethnic ministry preparation. He also assists the general director of Evangelism and Church Growth in planning, recruiting, and training church planting personnel, supervising translation projects, and developing printed and Internet resources to promote a culturally sensitive church planting movement among non-English speaking minorities in the U.S. and Canada.
